Tobias Bootz

Tobias Bootz has always been fascinated with Asia and, in particular, China. As a student he had the chance to spend several months working in China and has been determined to go back ever since.  He and his colleague Gong Chen have been responsible for building up Deutsche Werkstätten China since 2018. Their aim is to set up a subsidiary in Jingdezhen, the birthplace of Chinese porcelain. Tobias has dedicated himself to learning Chinese and is confident that his dream of being able to start something from scratch will soon come true in China. If everything goes to plan in Jingdezhen, Deutsche Werkstätten will set up not only a state-of-the-art factory for interior solutions but also a new training centre for their staff.

Tobias Bootz is looking forward to introducing the spirit of Hellerau and its company culture to China - mutual respect and interdisciplinary teamwork, combined with the complex nature of the projects and their perfect execution. These very same attributes first attracted him to the company as a student. After writing his final thesis in Hellerau, he was employed to work as part of the quality management and operations team, improving work processes and in particular digitalization. He has always had the idea at the back of his mind that he would live and work abroad one day. As China became an increasingly important focus for the company it was clear that this was where the journey was going to take him.
