Colloquium HELLERAU Place of modernity

Hellerau, as a decisive location for a search for the sources of life as a response to the Industrial Revolution and its consequences, moved between progressive entrepreneurship, social utopia, architectural modernity, reform education, the Werkbund and art - motifs which, especially in our days, make clear the contemporary relevance of the overall Hellerau project. The founders and creators of the town's ideas were concerned with a living environment in which technology and progress were not to be the sole pacesetters of society. The three-day event is dedicated to these contents and their discussion and seeks in all its components to relate to a present which, after more than 100 years, is still confronted with the same questions.
