A Network for Integration
Integration is an issue that concerns us all. It was, therefore, with great pleasure that we took part in the initiative "Network Placements for Refugees - Entry into the World of Work" (netzwerkstatt.jimdo.com).
The week-long internship started with a discovery tour through the grounds and buildings of Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau. On Tuesday and Wednesday Mortaza, Amjad and Fakhree cut and glued veneers in the training workshop together with one of our apprentices. Our production manager also showed them our large production hall and explained the processes. On Thursday our logistics manager helped the trainees with the packing of components for a large yacht project. And, then, on Friday Mortaza, Amjad and Fakhree, together with two architects from our execution planning team, cleared the paths and doorways to a listed show house from the 1920s. The diverse programme was rounded off with a lunchtime buffet for everyone involved in the office. All participants approached the internship with enthusiasm and also learnt a lot from it. For example, that you can always find a way to communicate, and that integration is not so difficult, when both sides make an effort.
